Lesson 2

We would now slowly begin to add new letters to our fingers vocabulary.

We now add g and h to your practice.  G is pressed with the pointer finger or the first finger of your left hand and H with the pointer finger of right hand.  Take a fresh page and type following.

asdfgf ;lkhj asdfgf ;lkjhj  asdfgf ;lkjhj asdfgf ;lkjhj

repeat this for 10 lines.

Once done start typing words mentioned below.  Remember we are sticking to a fixed set of words to include only those letters that we have learned so for.  So words might not make sense but who cares since it solves the main purpose of learning to type.

fag  hag had hakka lag has saks hasal dagaj hadlagh

Lesson 1

Start with a blank page (it could be on MS Word, Notepad, Wordpad basically anything you can type on) .  Place your left hand fingers on asdf  and the right hand fingers on ;lkj .  If the pointer finger of your left hand is on  'F' and that of your right hand is on ' J' you have got it right.

Start with your left hand.  Press individual keys one at a time starting from A repeating the letters in the back of the mind. Once  'asdf' is typed press space with your right thumb.  Continue the same with right hand fingers starting from ';'.  If done correctly it would look something like this.
" asdf ;lkj asdf ;lkj asdf ;lkj asdf ;lkj asdf ;lkj asdf ;lkj "
In the intial phase its better to  Ignore  the mistakes you might do while typing; its only a matter of time till you perfect it.
Keep repeating till you have filled the page or atleast few lines.   Now start typing
" fdsa jkl; fdsa jkl; fdsa jkl; fdsa jkl; fdsa jkl; fdsa jkl; fdsa jkl; "

Once you had enough practice,  practice typing following words for atleast 10 lines

add lad dad flask kajal jakal das lass sad fall

ASDF ;LKJ

asdf ;lkj   also called Home Keys,  is where all the typing starts with.  Its the reference point for your fingers to know their position on the keyboard.  Each finger commands the letter on which it is positioned and the ones above or below it.   The first and the last fingers also command all the remaining keys around it. The right thumb is used to press the space bar.

Introduction to typing

Typing involves efficient co-ordination between your brain and your fingers.  Once the brain registers the relative position of the letters on the keyboard the entire process of typing becomes part of your sub-concious mind.   Its just like how we learned to write.   In the intial phase its advised to repeat each letter of a word in the back of the mind as you type the words.  As you would start typing frequently you would realise that your fingers would type out the words without your brain having to put undue stress on each letter of it.  Learning to type is just a matter of few hours of practice.  30min everyday for 10 days should be enough for your brain to register the layout of keyboard.  Increasing your typing speed is just a matter of practice after that. Learning typing might get boring  but remember you would be doing this only once in your lifetime for saving hours on typing in future.
